Broken Needles in Your Clothes?

Broken Needles in your Clothes?

I'm sure that everyone knows that your clothes are sewn in clothing factories with sewing machines (that ones that make alot of noise..da da da da da. Imagine having 1,000 machines going at once!). These factory workers use these sewing machines so much and so often (some apparel manufacturers: 24hours a day! Luckily they have 2-3 shifts) that sometimes the needles break. This can be caused by numerous reasons such as over usage, fabric is too thick, and incorrect settings. These needles don't just snap in half, they literally shatter into many pieces (5? 10?). Imagine if you bought a DKNY T-shirt and you found a piece of needle inside and it pokes you! Then people start talking about aids and all types of diseases they can get from a broken needle. I'm talking about a multi-million dollar lawsuit here! How do these clothing manufacturers guarantee that there will not be needles inside your clothing?

First line of defense: Workers in a clothing factory are only allowed to have one needle. They literally only pass out one needle per factory worker. If it breaks, you have to find all the pieces, piece it back together, place it in a nice plastic bag, and then exchange it for a new one. Kind of sounds like prison doesn't it?

Second line of defense: The metal detector. Yup, all clothing manufacturers have metal detectors to ensure that there are no metallic pieces stuck in inside your clothes! Just like in the airport, if you have something metallic in your pockets…beep beep beep!

Interesting stuff…
